ABOUT JOEY

Big Loud partner / producer Joey Moi has changed the sound of modern music. Named as one of Billboard’s year-end Hot Country Songs Producers of 2020, the veteran hitmaker is rewriting the industry’s playbook as a lauded songwriter, producer, engineer, and record mixer, while also leading as a partner of Nashville’s no-holds-barred independent music business hybrid. Now almost a decade with Big Loud, the rocker turned Country music man has tacked nearly 60 #1 producer credits to his dynamic creative genius.

The Western Canada-native relocated to Nashville, TN, after first signing a publishing deal with Big Loud Publishing (then named Big Loud Shirt Publishing) in 2010, and scored his first Country production credit with Jake Owen’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” [a 2X PLATINUM smash and Owen’s first #1 single]. Prior to taking over the Country format, he shook-up the Rock genre in the early 2000s by collaborating with and producing MULTI-PLATINUM act Nickelback (THE LONG ROAD, ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, DARK HORSE, and HERE AND NOW). “If Moi has any obvious signature, it’s that the music made by his acts plays bigger than the pop-up stage at the local state fair,” hails Vancouver Sun. “This is arena and western music, made for air-punching along to as the pyrotechnics explode.”

In 2011, he upped his corporate gains by establishing Big Loud Management – serving as an innovative, one-stop shop for artist development, management, and production – alongside Big Loud founder Craig Wiseman and CEO Seth England. Breaking their first client, then-aspiring duo Florida Georgia Line, Moi is celebrated for producing their watershed fusion of Country, Rock, and Hip-Hop, to lock in their trademark tone. His diverse catalog has since jumped between genres producing successful projects for artists like Tim McGraw, RaeLynn, and The Chainsmokers, as well as earning a respected reputation as a composer, engineer and record mixer, contributing to projects by a diverse group of stars including Bebe Rexha, Owl City, Alabama, and more.

Making bold business expansions, Moi and his Big Loud partners founded Big Loud Records in 2015, an independent label that hit #1 with their first-ever release, a Moi-produced PLATINUM-certified “Fix” by then-newcomer Chris Lane, and catapulted the fast-rising superstar career of Morgan Wallen. Recently celebrating its five-year anniversary, Records accounts for multiple GOLD and PLATINUM certifications, and seven #1 U.S. airplay and 12 #1 Canadian airplay hits, as the #1 streaming market shareholder among true independent Country labels and #6 overall (Country currents YTD, Nielsen Music). Tallying over more than 5 BILLION global streams to date, their stacked roster includes top-charters to emerging artists, in addition to partnerships with Songs & Daughters [a female-driven label led by ACM Award-winning songwriter Nicolle Galyon with a Publishing arm (in partnership with Big Loud Publishing / Warner Chappell Music)], plus the HiXTAPE music-lifestyle brand. In 2017, Big Loud’s divisions: Publishing, Management, and Label, merged under the Big Loud moniker, adding a Capital venture to the game-changing company.

Moi continues to reign multiple Billboard charts, spending 31 weeks and counting atop Country Producers – the second-most for a producer since the chart launched – and seven weeks ruling all-genre Hot 100 Producers. As a producer, he’s marked 10 #1s on Hot Country Songs, 27 #1s on Country Airplay, seven Top 10 hits on the all-genre Hot 100, and capped multiple years (2013, 2014, 2016) as Billboard’s #1 Hot Country Songs Producer of the Year. Most recently nominated for Producer of the Year at the 55th ACM Awards®, he’s won multiple awards like CMA’s Single of the Year (“Cruise” – Florida Georgia Line), ACM’s Single of the Year (“H.O.L.Y.” – Florida Georgia Line) and Vocal Event of the Year (“This Is How We Roll” and “May We All” – Florida Georgia Line), as well as several CCMA honors.
