ABOUT JOEY

Big Loud partner / producer Joey Moi has changed the sound of modern music. Named as one of Billboard’s year-end Hot Country Songs Producers of 2020, the veteran hitmaker is rewriting the industry’s playbook as a lauded songwriter, producer, engineer, and record mixer, while also leading as a partner of Nashville’s no-holds-barred independent music business hybrid. Now almost a decade with Big Loud, the rocker turned Country music man has tacked nearly 60 #1 producer credits to his dynamic creative genius.

Pushing the boundaries of modern music, veteran hitmaker and chart-topping producer Joey Moi effortlessly propels artists to the top of the charts with a dynamic, signature approach. Recognized for his role in shaping the careers of Nickelback, Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Daughtry, HARDY, and many more, Moi is unafraid to create outside of the confines of genre, experimenting with and fusing genres like rock, hip-hop, and country throughout his storied career to create history-making crossover magic that’s dominated the charts for the last two decades. The first producer in the genre to spend over 100 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Producers chart, Moi has established himself as a trailblazer, leading Big Loud toward the future of music in his role as Partner / Producer / President of A&R.

Getting his start in hard-rock in the early 2000s, the Canadian-born studio wizard achieved quick success collaborating with and producing multi-platinum act Nickelback (The Long RoadAll The Right ReasonsDark Horse, and Here And Now), developing his craft in a way that would later influence and reinvent traditional genre formats. Noticing a shift in rock music, Moi was approached by long-time friend and lead singer of multi-platinum band Default, Dallas Smith, who expressed an interest in creating a country record. Jumping headfirst into the unprecedented project, Moi and Smith created Jumped Right In, a venture that would mark the beginning of Moi’s record-breaking career. All the while, he traveled back and forth to Nashville from Canada for writing sessions. In town, Joey quickly developed a relationship with Craig Wiseman and Seth England, who introduced him to country superstar Jake Owen, with whom he scored his first country production credit on the 2X platinum No. 1 single, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”

In 2011, Moi moved to Nashville to help build Big Loud Management —an innovative, one-stop shop for artist development, management, and production — with his friends-turned-partners, Wiseman and England. Staking their claim, the unstoppable trio signed their first act, a then-aspiring duo called Florida Georgia Line. Producing their trademark sound that blended country, rock, and hip-hop, Moi created the sound that would shift radio paradigms and sonic expectations for the next decade. Moi expanded throughout that time, producing projects for artists like Tim McGraw, RaeLynn, and Keith Urban and contributing to projects by stars including Bebe Rexha, Diplo, Owl City, The Chainsmokers, Alabama, and more.

Growing their Big Loud empire in 2015, Moi, Wiseman, and England launched Big Loud Records, an independent label that quickly cemented its place in the industry by claiming their first No. 1 with Chris Lane’s debut release; platinum-certified hit “Fix.” Ever since, Moi has led the charge for Big Loud’s extensive roster of artists who continue to reign atop the charts. Claiming 16 No. 1s on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, 15 Top 10 hits on the Billboard all-genre Hot 100 chart, and 36 No. 1s at U.S. country radio, Moi set the record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100 Producers Chart at 28 weeks, and is the longest-running No. 1 producer on the Billboard Country Producer Chart in its history. He was the 2023 Billboard Hot 100 Producer of the Year, has been awarded the outlet’s No. 1 Hot Country Songs Producer of the Year six times (2013, 2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2023) and tallied several wins and nominations at the CMA, ACM, CCMA, and MusicRow Awards.
